Barbara Mori (full name Barbara Mori Ochoa) was born on February 2, 1978 in Montevideo, Uruguay and she is a Mexican actress and model. Barbara Mori started to work as a model and then became a telenovela actress with TV Azteca but her big break came with the remake of the telenovela Rubi of rival network Televisa in 2004 playing the title character.
At the age of 3, her parents divorced and Barbara Mori later moved to Mexico. One day, while working as a waitress at the age of fourteen, fashion designer Marcos Toledo invited Barbara Mori to work as a model. Barbara Mori became independent by the age of 17 and went to live with her cousins. At 19 Barbara Mori met actor Sergio Mayer, who would later become her husband.
Barbara Mori later studied acting in El Centro de Estudios de Formacion Actoral. Mori first acted in the Mexican Telenovela Al norte del corazon. Barbara Mori then participated in the comedy series Tric Tac and Mirada de mujer the following year. Barbara Mori obtained her first TVyNovelas Award for her role in Mirada de mujer for the Best New Actress. In 1998, Barbara Mori got her first leading role as Azul in the series Azul Tequila, co-starring with Mauricio Ochmann. A year later she filmed the series Me muero por ti in Miami, with Peruvian actor Christian Meier.
Barbara Mori participated in her first film in 2000, in the Mexican comedy Inspiracion. Later, Barbara Mori acted in various other telenovelas including, Amor descarado and the high rated Mexican soap Rubi, which earned her a TVyNovelas Award, the most prestigious television award in Latin America.
Barbara Mori has two siblings; actress Kenya Mori and Kintaro Mori. Her paternal grandfather was Japanese. Barbara Mori also had a son with Sergio Mayer, who was named after the actor. In 2005 Barbara Mori obtained the starring role in the blockbuster film La mujer de mi hermano as Zoe, and her husband was portrayed by Christian Meier, who she had previously co-starred with in Me muero por ti. After divorcing Mayer, Mori dated Cardona. She is currently dating actor and fashion designer Jose Maria Torre after his breakup with singer Paulina Rubio.
