In 1983-85, she was romantically involved with Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, whom she would come to call the love of her life. She worked in film, often with Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Barbara Valentin died of a stroke and is buried in the Ostfriedhof cemetery in Munich.
