Carole Mallory Gambone was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I graduated Penn State University and worked for two years as a junior high school teacher while I began studies towards my Masters at Temple`s Tyler School of Art.. Overcome by wanderlust, I quit teaching the following year to become a stewardess for Pan Am flying routes to Europe, Africa and Asia. Two years later I began modeling in Paris for French VOGUE. When I returned to New York and modeled with the Ford Agency, my career hit it`s peak: My face and figure graced the covers of COSMOPOLITAN, ESQUIRE, NEWSWEEK, GQ and NEW YORK Magazine (three times). I posed in literally hundreds of fashion layouts, representing everything from mink to perfume. I made over fifty TV commercials and was a spokesomn for clients such as Atlantic Richfield, English Leather, Speidel, "Tigress" by Faberge, Olympic Airlines and others. In 1973, I became engaged to Claude Picasso, Pablo`s son. He objected to my wanting to be an actress; nevertheless, I accepted a role in the film "The Stepford Wives." as one of the wives. In 1975 Claude jilted me. I moved from Paris to Hollywood where I was flown to test for the THE FAN CLUB by Irving Wallace. 1500 women were auditioned for the part which Racquel Welch and Bridget Bardot rejected. A new sex symbol was to be created. My competition for the film was Linda Carter, Marjorie Wallace (Miss America) and Catherine Bach. THE FAN CLUB was never made by Columbia Pictures. Still, I went on to film twelve movies and over thirty television shows. In 1983, after being sober for almost three years (in 1979 I had discovered that I was an alcoholic), I filmed "Take This Job and Shove It," did a poster for the movie, and decided to leave my acting career. During my active alcoholism I had affairs with many stars. Some were: Warren Beatty, Sean Connery, Matt Dillon, Bobby De Niro, Richard Gere, Rod Stewart, Robin Williams, and Anthony Hopkins. In 1983, I began to study writing at U.C.L.A., Columbia and with Margaret Atwood at N.Y.U. I pursued journalism and interviewed many celebrities some of whom were: Gore Vidal, Joseph Kennedy II, Erica Jong, Kurt Vonnegut, Joe Heller, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Jay McInerney, Chevy Chase, Dudley Moore, Milos Forman, and Norman Mailer. My journalism has been published in: ESQUIRE, PLAYBOY, ELLE, NEW WOMAN, PARADE, TIME OUT. In 1987, my story about my recovery from alcoholism was the cover story of PARADE MAGAZINE. FLASH, my first novel, was published in 1987 in England, Germany, Japan, Italy, Yugoslavia, Poland, and the U.S. During the 90`s I cared for my mother who suffered three strokes. On July 28, 2001, I married a 33 year old Kenneth Gambone, a baker. In the winter of `01, at a Rod Stewart concert at the First Union Center in Philadelphia, in front of 20,000 fans, Rod said, `This one`s for you, Carole." Then Rod sang "MAGGIE MAY."
