Profile Bio Text
Cynthia Plaster Caster, who was born Cynthia Albritton in 1947 in Chicago, Illinois is an artist and self-described "recovering groupie" who creates plaster casts of famous persons` penises and breasts. She began her career in 1968 by casting penises of rock musicians. She later expanded her subjects to include filmmakers and other types of artists. By 2000, she began casting female artists` breasts.
Cynthia has stated that she was the sole child of a "horny alcoholic father, and a strict, conservative mother", in a dysfunctional family in Chicago, Illinois. Shy as a young girl, Cynthia sought out a way to make contact with the opposite sex. In the mid-1960s she became caught up in the sixties movements, where free love and rock music became popular. In high school, when her art teacher gave the class an assignment to "plaster cast something solid that could retain it`s shape", her idea to use the assignment as a lure to entice rock stars to have sex with her became a hit, even before she made a cast of anyone`s genitalia, although she was successful in losing her virginity upon approaching Paul Revere and the Raiders. Finding a dental mold called alginates to be sufficient, she found her first client in Jimi Hendrix, the first of many to submit to the idea. Cynthia Albritton`s close girlfriend, Dianne, would provide oral sex to excite her clients, while Albritton cast the mold. As Albritton`s collection grew, so did news of their exploits, however, some rumors were unfounded. Dianne left the caster business, and Cynthia sought out a new partner.
Meeting Frank Zappa, who found the concept of "casting" both humorous and creative as an art form, Albritton found in him something of a patron, as he moved her to Los Angeles, California, which she described as a veritable groupie heaven, with no lack of assistants. Together, Zappa and Albritton conceived an idea of preserving the casts of musicians for a future exhibition, entrusting them to his partner, Herb Cohen, for safekeeping, however the idea never took off, due to a lack of famous rock stars as participants. A movie was made of Cynthia Plaster Caster, and her celebrity grew, however, she found herself having to file a lawsuit to retrieve the casts. She decided to cast women`s breasts as well, in 2000.
She has cast many well-known musicians` penises, including those of Jimi Hendrix and Noel Redding from the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Zal Yanovsky of the Lovin` Spoonful, Clint Mansell from Pop Will Eat Itself, Tony Stevens of Savoy Brown, Bob Henrit of The Kinks, Ricky Fataar of the Beach Boys, Brian St. Clair of Local H and Triple Fast Action fame, David Yow of The Jesus Lizard and Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys. These are a small sample of those musicians she has "casted", having many more, in addition to artists, as well as other members of the music buisness.
A documentary, Plaster Caster, has been filmed about her, and she has inspired at least one song: "Plaster Caster" by KISS.
