Emily Wagner was born and raised in New York City`s Upper West Side. She began her acting career at age 6 as the youngest member of the theatrical troupe The Merry Mini Players. She starred in the cult 80s NBC/PBS series High Feather. By the time she arrived at Vassar, she had put acting on the back burner in order to focus on a rigorous education. She graduated from Vassar with a BFA degree in Art History and Fine Art. It was there that she also grew serious about creative writing and began to write short stories and plays. Post college, Emily returned to NYC to study acting with Susan Batson, then moved to Los Angeles where she has played paramedic Doris Pickman on ER since the show`s second episode. Emily co-created, wrote, produced and starred in several short and feature films, some with her brother Andrew (Counting, South Main), some with her longtime collaborator Julie Delpy (Blah, Blah, Blah) and some with both of them Looking for Jimmy (2002) and Careful, all of which went on to have impressive festival runs. She is also an artist and shows with the Acuna-Hansen gallery in LA`s Chinatown.
