Gabriela is the Drummer in her Family Band Avenue B... Avenue B: Three sisters, one band. Originally from Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, the Arciero girls found themselves performing together from early childhood. Since they could speak, Olivia (age 22), Dominique (age 20) and Gabby (age 17) entertained themselves by singing harmonies to the radio, usually the Top 40 Country station influenced by their southern, country music-loving mom. In 1999, at the ages of only 15, 13 and 9, the three sisters formed a band on their own. It was hard to take serious at first, as both parents lack music abilities, but it didn`t take long for people to realize they had talent. Where most kids dread their piano lessons, Dominique instantly fell in love with the keys . She took classical lessons for 6 years; her piano teacher saw the sisters` drive to be a band and focused on accompaniment and theory. One day, their mom brought home an old drum set from an auction for Gabby to play on for fun, and she loved it. Gabby jumped at the opportunity for lessons and before long was jamming along with Dominique in their basement. Olivia was known in the community for her creative writing and poetry abilities. She was able to translate this into lyric writing, and in the summer of 2001, Olivia picked up a guitar and tied music to her lyrics. That same summer, the sisters moved from Pennsylvania to New York City. Their initial plan was to be a country group, but as the girls and the songs matured, they transitioned into a pop group. Honest lyrics, catchy hooks, and three-part harmonies -- put them together and you`ve got a song from these three sisters. "It`s all about the song," Olivia says. "The melodies and lyrics in music influence us, that`s what we listen to- so that`s what we focus on in our own music," says Dominique. Olivia finds the most heartfelt and brutally honest way of telling a story so that it`s painted immediately in your mind. Dominique arranges and sings harmonies, shares in singing lead vocals and also plays the mandolin and guitar. Recently, Dominique has found her own voice and has started writing on her own. Gabby`s cool nature and strong drumming will make you stare in awe. Her harmonies fill in the low end as well as the high, impressively resembling Stewart Copeland at only 16 year`s old. "She`d probably much rather be in a Green Day cover band than play with us," jokes Dominique. Being so close and experiencing the same things has given them opportunities to write and sing about personal true-to-life experiences; Anything from their parents` divorce to finding out they are flirting with the same guy. Their bond comes through in their harmonies and their stage presence. "We`re in a band for two reasons," says Dominique. "1- We each love playing music and singing individually and 2- we love hanging with eachother- we`re best friends." With interest from publishers, producers, managers and agents alike, the girls are ready to break onto the professional music scene in a big way.
