Josh Evans (born January 16, 1971) is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor. Evans was born in New York City, New York, the son of actress Ali MacGraw and producer Robert Evans. He is also the nephew of producer Charles Evans, stepson of Steve McQueen, and the stepbrother of actor and race car driver Chad McQueen. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, graduated in 1989 from the prestigious private Crossroads School in Santa Monica and attended the University of California, Los Angeles. While in college, he earned a scholarship at the 1998 Young Artist Awards. He went on to become a producer, director, screenwriter, and actor. Most notably, he acted as Tom Cruise`s hippie younger brother in Born on the Fourth of July and John Lithgow`s psycho assistant in Ricochet. Evans has worked with Oliver Stone, Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer, John Lithgow and Drew Barrymore. He wrote, produced, and directed the independent film, Che Guevara, in 2005. Evans lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Charis Michelsen, whom he met on the set of the 2000 film The Price of Air (written and directed by Evans). Michelsen and Evans privately married on September 11, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV and kept their relationship a secret from the media to protect the privacy of their personal life. They divorced in 2010.
