Heather Laurie Holden (born December 17, 1972) is an American-Canadian actress and human rights activist. She is perhaps best known for her roles as Marita Covarrubias in The X-Files, Adele Stanton on The Majestic, Cybil Bennett in Silent Hill, Amanda Dumfries in The Mist, Olivia Murray in The Shield, and Andrea in The Walking Dead.

Laurie Holden was born in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, the daughter of actors Lawrence Holden and Adrienne Ellis, sister of actor Christopher Holden, stepdaughter of film director Michael Anderson and stepsister of actor Michael Anderson, Jr. and producer David Anderson Her parents divorced in 1975 and Holden was raised in Canada and spent her freshman year at McGill University, then transferring to UCLA to do a BA in Theatre Arts (She also won the prestigious Natalie Wood Acting Award). She has dual citizenship with the United States and Canada.
Laurie received her first film role when she was a young child. While on the set visiting her step-father, director Michael Anderson, a child actress hired to play Rock Hudson`s daughter in The Martian Chronicles (1980) never made it and Laurie filled in. Laurie has appeared in various TV shows including Highlander: The Series, Murder, She Wrote, Due South, Poltergeist: The Legacy and The Outer Limits. Her most visible roles were as Marita Covarrubias on The X-Files (1996-2002), Special Agent Fox Mulder`s latest informant, and feisty frontier woman Mary Travis on The Magnificent Seven (1998-2000). She co-starred with Jim Carrey in the film The Majestic (2001), played police officer Cybil Bennett in the Silent Hill movie(2006), Amanda Dunfrey in The Mist (2007), agent Olivia Murray in The Shield (2008) and Andrea in The Walking Dead (2010).
