Couple Profile
Liza Snyder was born on March 20, 19noneofyourbusiness, in Northampton, Massachusetts, and considering her roots, seemed destined for a life in show business. Her father was the Professor of Theater at Smith College, where he met Liza`s mother, an actress, as well as a singer and songwriter.
Liza`s maternal grandparents were also very much "in the biz." Her grandfather is five time Oscar winning composer and conductor Johnny Green. Her grandmother, Betty Furness, began her career as an actress (she played Fred Astaire`s fiancé in the movie "Swing Time") but was probably most famous for being the pitchwoman for Westinghouse refrigerators. Ms. Furness later went on to become a highly respected consumer reporter for NBC News in New York and the "Today Show".
Liza chose to attend The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater in New York. She landed her first television role in a show called "The Trials of Rosie O`Neill," starring Sharon Gless.
In 1992, Liza was thrilled to be cast as one of the three leads in the hour long drama series entitled "Sirens." The show, a midseason replacement for ABC, centered around three rookie policewomen in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, after the thirteen episodes aired, the popular show was canceled. Ironically, "Sirens" was then picked up by another company for syndication, and taken to Montreal, where twenty-two additional episodes were shot.
Liza went on to do guest starring roles in a number of other shows, including "Chicago Hope" and "Murder She Wrote." She also appeared in several made for television movies, providing her with the opportunity to work with some extremely talented actors. Among the movies was "The Search for Sarah: A Race Against Time," where she felt privileged to work with and get to know the lovely and gifted Patty Duke. Liza also appeared in the fact-based miniseries "Innocent Victims," playing the part of Angela Hennis, wife of the first man (played by John Corbett) to win an appeal on death row.
In 1999, Liza was cast as Linda in NBC`s "Jesse." The show ran for two years on NBC. In the summer of 2001, she landed her first feature film, "Pay It Forward," which starred Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osmont. Currently, Liza can be seen every week in the CBS hit sitcom, "Yes, Dear."
When she isn`t working, Liza enjoys hiking with her dogs, spending time with friends, writing, music, hockey, and babysitting for Anthony and Michael Bain (the twins who play "Sammy" on "Yes, Dear"). Her newest passion is boxing, which she tries to do three times a week with the help of her private coach.
