Malinda Williams (born December 3, 1975) is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for her portrayal of hair stylist Tracy "Bird" Van Adams on the Showtime television drama Soul Food.

Malinda Williams (born December 3, 1975) is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for her portrayal of hair stylist Tracy "Bird" Van Adams on the Showtime television drama Soul Food. Williams, who studied at The Actor`s Conservatory in New York City, has appeared in several television shows such as The Cosby Show, Sister, Sister and Moesha. She has also starred in several movies including, Sunset Park, High School High, The Wood and the OutKast produced movie Idlewild. She appeared in the 2008 feature film First Sunday, starring actor/rapper Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan and Katt Williams. Her most notable role was starring in the Showtime series Soul Food as the younger sister, Tracy "Bird" Van Adams. In 2003 and 2004, Malinda was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Soul Food. The Soul Food series was being shown in syndication on BET. In 2000 Malinda Williams was nominated for Best Actress (Theatrical) for the 1999 film The Wood at the 2000 Black Reel Awards. Williams was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She grew up in Westfield, New Jersey and attended Union County College in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Williams was married to actor Mekhi Phifer and the two share a son together named Omikaye. The couple is now divorced. She is married to DJ and former Boogie Down Productions member and solo artist D-Nice. They wed on August 23, 2008. She resides in Westfield, New Jersey.e. D-Nice recently realeased a statement confriming that the couple is currently going through a divorce and would like to keep things private.
