Amanda Leigh Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on April 10, 1984 to Don (an airline pilot) and Stacy (a former news reporter). After seeing the musical "Oklahoma!", she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in singing. As a child, she performed the National Anthem at several athletic events around her hometown of Orlando, Florida, and became known as the "National Anthem girl". At the ripe age of 14, while she was recording in a studio in Orlando, a Fed-Ex worker who happened to be passing through heard her and was interested in her talent. He happened to know someone at Sony as well. Moore worked on cutting a demo and shortly thereafter signed a record deal with Sony 550 Music. At 15, her first record "So Real" was released. Her first tour was with the Backstreet Boys. As her touring and recording schedule demanded more of her time, Moore withdrew from Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando and opted for a tutor/correspondence. She has stated that her education is important to her and says that the fact that she wants to go to college motivates her to continue with her schooling. Though Moore`s record sales are not up in the ranks of Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, she has proved to be a formidable talent both in singing and in acting. She snagged an MTV Movie Award in June 2002 for her first feature film role in A Walk to Remember (2002) and has two other films coming out in the following year. Her biggest dream, though, is to perform on Broadway someday. Professional Singer. Her younger brother, Kyle, was an extra in her music video "Candy." They also have an older brother, Scott. Hosted her own daytime MTV series during Summer 2000. Wants to be a news reporter. Cut her hair short for movie Try Seventeen (2002). Cut her hair shorter for the movie How to Deal (2003). Dated American professional tennis player, Andy Roddick. [July 2002 - March 2004] Good friends of the Osbourne family. Mandy has appeared in some of the episodes of their reality TV show. Often refers with self-deprecating humor to her size 10 feet. Attended Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Camp. Filmed scenes playing the opening victim, Jenny, in Wes Craven`s Cursed (2005). Her scenes were cut and later re-shot with `Mya` when the film underwent major changes. Ranked #67 in Stuff magazine`s "102 Sexiest Women In The World." [2002]. Her debut single `Candy` topped the Australian Charts at number 1. High school GPA was 3.8. Of Irish and Cherokee descent on her father`s side and of English descent on her mother`s side. Left high school half way through her freshman year. Moved to Florida when she was only six weeks old. Was originally cast as Anne Hathaway`s character for the movie Havoc (2005). She attended Park Maitland School in Matiland, Florida and was cast as Adelaide in its production of Broadway Musical "Guys and Dolls". Named #35 in FHM`s "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005" special supplement. (2005) Had a live duet with Asia`s songbird, Regine Velasquez. Was featured as #22 in Maxim Magazine`s "Hot 100 of 2002" supplement. (2002). Accompanied ex-boyfriend Zach Braff to the Golden Globes in 2006. Named #31 in FHM magazine`s "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006" supplement. (2006). Had her tonsils removed in 2001, spent her recovery at her parent`s home in Florida. Lists Annie Hall (1977) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) as her favorite films. Struggled with depression after her breakup with Zach Braff [January, 2007]. She has 3 cats; Milo, Zoe, and Cloe. Good friends with singer Josh Groban. Loves roller-coasters. Ranked #48 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2007 list. Mandy was a student at The Maile School in Winter Park, Florida; other graduates include Phil Moore, Shannon McGinnis, James Greye, and Arielle Kebbel. Fractured her ankle during a shoot for Self magazine. She was injured after jumping from a boat. [April 2007] Was ranked #19 on Forbes List The 20 Top-Earning Young Superstars.(2007). Was listed as a potential nominee on the 2008 Razzie Award nominating ballot. She was suggested in the Worst Supporting Actress category for her performance in the film Because I Said So (2007). She failed to receive a nomination however.
