The on August 15, 2006, she competed against 50 other girls for the title of Miss Teen USA 2006, California and was placed first runner-up. Melissa has a older brother named Kyle and a younger sister named Mackenzie. She is a home-schooled high school student. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, web-designing, make-up artistry, dancing, and singing. When Melissa was 12, she was chosen to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" for President George W. Bush during his Presidential visit to Charlotte. She has also appeared in Drake Bell`s music video "I Know" and has also been seen touring with him singing backing vocals for his band.
