Michelle Hurd was born in New York City on December 21, 1966. Her father is the late Hugh Hurd, a civil rights activist and a film and stage actor.
A 1988 graduate of Boston University`s Acting School and a performer in the National Theatre of Great Britain, Michelle has performed on stage, film and television. She made her Broadway debut in `Getting Away With Murder.` Her other Broadway and Off Broadway performances include `Othello,` `Hunchback of Notre Dame,` `AMI,` `Hot Keys,` `Hamlet,` `The Constant Couple,` and `900 Oneonta.` She won a Robby Award, a California theater award, for best supporting actress in a drama for her work in the South Coast Repertory Theatre’s world premiere of Richard Greenberg’s play `The Violet Hour.`
Michelle’s has starred in various films including `Dead Silence,` `Personals,` `Random Hearts` and `Double Parked.`
Michelle’s tv guest appearances include `Law & Order,` `The Cosby Mysteries,` `Single Life,` `Players,` `The Fugitive,` `Charmed,` `The O.C.,` `Kevin Hill` and `Bones.` She’s had recurring roles in `New York Undercover,` `The Practice,` `Malcolm & Eddie,` `Skin,` `According To Jim` and she had a regular/recurring role in `Law & Order: SVU.` Michelle starred in the Showtime series `Leap Years` and the daytime drama `Another World.`
