Michelle Claire Ryan was born on the 22nd April 1984 in Enfield, London into a close knit family. She was encouraged in her acting pursuits by her supportive parents, Craig and Tina. A member of a local theatre group since she was 10, she was picked for her role in EastEnders when she was 15 and first appeared on the show in September 2000; for the part, she affected an East End cockney accent, rather than speaking her usual Received Pronunciation. Playing the troubled Zoe Slater from 2000 – 2005 earned Michelle many accolades, both personal and professional, including ‘Best Single Episode’ at the 2002 ‘Soap Awards’, an episode that attracted a staggering 20 million viewers. In 2005, she announced she was leaving EastEnders to concentrate on work in theatre andfilms.Since leaving ‘Eastenders’, Michelle has taken on a range of varied and challenging characters. Credits include playing Tiffany the Mole on stage at the King’s Head Theatre in Islington, in the satirical play ‘Who’s the Daddy’, television roles in ‘Miss Marple’, Mansfield Park’ and ‘Jekyll’, and on the silver screen in ‘Cashback’ (2006, Sean Ellis), ‘I Want Candy’ (2007, Stephen Sunjik) and ‘Flick’ (2007, David Howard). She has mused that her involvement with the show served as a dress rehearsal for working on Bionic Woman.Fittingly so, as Michelle does have seemingly bionic strengths in becoming one of Britain’s most successful and beautiful rising stars. She is signed to Independent Models in London. Ryan was recently asked to pose for Playboy, but declined the offer as she thought that the time wasn`t right Ryan has been among FHM`s 100 Sexiest Women in 2002, 2004, 2005 (fourth, her highest ranking), and 2007 Michelle likes spending time with her friends and eating out.She loves shopping and says it`s definitely a form of therapy! She has been included in Debrett`s annual publications since 2003, which catalogues the biographies of Britain`s most distinguished and influential figures Her portrait taken by Mark Tillie was hung at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the ‘John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award’ in 2002 Auditioned for the role of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale (2006), but lost out to French actress Eva Green. Was offered and accepted the part of Lexi in British movie Adulthood, but when the film got delayed Michelle had to go to Vancouver to shoot The Bionic woman and thus had to pull out. The Part eventually went to Scarlett Johnson who coincidently used to work with Michelle on a British soap opera. Her favourite film is The Last of the Mohicans (1992) Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Toni Collette, Diane Keaton, and Cate Blanchett are her favourite actors and in male actors her favourite actor is Robert De Niro. She also admires Joseph Fiennes, Jude Law, Brad Pitt, Leonardo Di Caprio and Josh Hartnett.
