Paula Maxine Thicke (n�e Patton; born December 5, 1975) is an American actress. She is mostly known for her appearances in the films Idlewild (2006), D�j� Vu (2006), Mirrors (2008), Precious (2009), Just Wright (2010), and Jumping the Broom (2011).

Paula M. Patton is an American actress. She is mostly known for her appearances in the films Idlewild (2005), D�j� Vu (2006) and Precious (2009). Patton was born in Los Angeles to a schoolteacher mother and a lawyer father. She enrolled at UC Berkeley, though she transferred to USC Film School after her first year, and where she graduated magna cum laude. Shortly after completing her studies, she won a 3-month assignment making documentaries for PBS. Later she worked with the Discovery Channel as producer for the show Medical Diaries. Patton`s first acting role was alongside Will Smith and Eva Mendes in 2005`s Hitch. She followed that with a small part in the drama London, and appeared alongside OutKast members Andre Benjamin and Big Boi in Idlewild. Patton was also the leading lady in the 2006 film D�j� Vu, a thriller starring Denzel Washington and Val Kilmer, and played television reporter Kate Madison in 2008`s Swing Vote. She appears in the film Mirrors, alongside Kiefer Sutherland in 2008. Patton plays the teacher of the main character in Precious, a film based on a novel by Sapphire. Patton is married to songwriter/singer Robin Thicke, son of Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring. On October 22, 2009, the couple announced they are expecting their first child, a boy, in May 2010, whom they plan on naming Julian.
