Raquel Cassidy (born 1968) is an English actress. She is perhaps best known for her television roles as Susan Gately in Teachers (series 1 and 2), the Home Office Junior Minister Jo Porter in Party Animals, and Mel in Lead Balloon, as well as her various stage works.

She is perhaps best known for her roles as Susan Gately in Teachers (series 1 and 2), the Home Office Junior Minister Jo Porter in Party Animals (TV series), and Mel in Lead Balloon, as well as her various stage works. Raquel also performs in Moving Wallpaper on ITV1, with Ben Miller and former Teachers` co-star James Lance. She is 5`7" tall, has brown hair and brown eyes. She sings mezzo soprano, dances Flamenco, is fluent in Spanish, French and German; and plays guitar & castanets. She was educated at Girton College, Cambridge, where she studied modern languages and then biological anthropology. She later pursued a PhD in biological anthropology but she abandoned it in order to pursue a career in acting instead. Raquel has taught in real life - she taught English as a foreign language.
