Tina Louise (born February 11, 1934) is an American actress, singer and author. She played the "movie star" Ginger Grant on the television situation comedy Gilligan's Island.

Born as an only child to a Jewish family. Made her Broadway debut with Julie Newmar in "L`il Abner" in 1954. In 1957, she made her silver screen debut in"God`s Little Acre". Tina left a role in a Broadway musical to portray a movie star named Ginger Grant on the television series "Gilligan`s Island" in 1964. Tina was unhappy with the role as she feared it would type-cast her even though it made her an icon around the world and still is to this day. Since her famous role on Gilligan`s Island, Tina has appeared occasionally on TV. She made an appearance on "Roseanne" and "Married with Children". Tina did have a semi-regular role on the evening soap opera "Dallas".
