T�rkan (also, Turkyany, Tyurkend, Tyurkyan, and Tyurkyany) is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 10,108.

T�rkan �oray was born to a government official father, Halit �oray and her mother, Meliha �oray, was a housewife. She has one younger sister Nazan, who is also an actress in her own right but is nowhere near as famous as T�rkan. After the birth of her younger sister, T�rkan's parents divorced and the custody of the children was given to the mother. T�rkan �oray graduated from Fatih K�z Lisesi (Fatih Girls' High School) attending both the middle and intermediate grades. Whilst living in rented accommodation in Karag�mr�k neighborhood of Fatih district in Istanbul,with her mother and sister, she would not know that their landlords would be her link to stardom. The landlords were the parents of one of the first actresses of Turkish cinema, Emel Y�ld�z and it is with her that T�rkan first set foot on a film set. After this, T�rkan was ever closer to a contract with one of Turkey's top film studios in Ye�il�am.
