Love (French: Amour) is a 2012 French-language film written and directed by Michael Haneke, starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert. The narrative focuses on an elderly couple, Anne and Georges, who are retired music teachers with a daughter who lives abroad. Anne suffers a stroke which paralyses her on one side of the body. The film is a co-production between companies in France, Germany and Austria. The film exhibited at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or. It will not be eligible for the 2013 Foreign Oscar as its first theatrical release is later than the September 30 cut-off date.
